Where am I?

Have I been quiet over the past few days?  Its because I am out in Nevada, surrounded by family and noise and joyful confusion.

Running here and there and everywhere - trying to pack as much into these few days as possible.

A graduation, a new marriage to celebrate, two great grandsons not seen until now.  I'll soon be back in my nest with memories to carry me over until the next time.  Whoops, got to go -- there's a grandchild or two who need me *smile*.

Valentine Give Away

I'm a sucker for Valentine's Day.  I know its been thrust into the mercenary world of marketing -- but the whole idea of a day devoted to 'love' -- who could not like that?  Love is a function that we, as humans, can demonstrate so very well.  It can fill our hearts, make us change our whole life course, smile, laugh and sometimes cry -- but it is always a very precious gift given to us.

And so - I'd like to offer this little fellow as a my blog giveaway -- someone who just looks like love and was created in love.  Please leave your comment below and I'll announce the winner on Thursday, February 14th, Valentine's Day!

"Can You Read My Heart?"

Let me introduce a new member of my family.  After going through a list of possible names, I made the decision not to traditionally name this particular doll but to use a spirit driven phrase - "Can you read my heart?"

This phrase came to me last month while helping a dear friend as her husband lay dying.  The words I spoke to her just didn't seem to be enough.  I wanted her to know how deeply I felt her loss.  As I thought about my frustration, this question came to me -"Can you read my heart?"

I scribbled these words onto a piece of paper and laid it on my desk.  As I completed this little one I decided that with the writing on her arms and legs and her rusty, old heart sitting quite boldly on her breast, she deserved a very special name.  And so it is... "Can you read my heart?"
