Winter's Ending

In some ways Winter can be a 'lonely' season.  We are often captives inside our warm, dry homes - while wind and snow and ice rage outside.  We are hermits of a sort.

Now it is March and Spring is not far away.  As I walked this morning I looked up at the bare limbs of the Winter trees.

Behind them was a brilliant blue sky.  It was like an interim between the two seasons - with each season represented in the simpleness of bare trees and deep blue sky.

How I love the change of seasons.  Just as I'm getting tired of one the next one appears.

"When the seasons shift, even the subtle beginning, the scent of a promised change, I feel something stir inside me.  Hopefulness? Gratitude? Openness? Whatever it is, it's welcome." - Kristin Armstrong

  1. :) We had very little winter this year. One of my fears over global warming is the loss of seasons. Here we are mid-March, and we have temps of 85 degrees which should be our May weather. As much as I enjoy the feeling of late spring, it makes me uneasy.

  3. We are heading into autumn, my favorite time of the year, after an odd summer, very dry and hot early, then the ups and downs of hot, cool, damp, muggy etc.

  4. I can see it in the quality of the light even though the trees are still bare.

  5. We have had a few spoiler days. Temps in the 60s when 40s are the norm. So back to snow this weekend for hopefully Winter's Last Hurrah!! it won't stick...the ground is already warm from our mild winter. I'm never sad to see Summer go, however, I tire of each other season by the time it's done. I need to be able to open the doors and let the fresh air push the dog air OUT!! Love looking through the trees to the blue sky. I patiently wait until the trees will block my view!!
    Have a wonderful weekend.
    xx, Carol
