"Black Bird"

I'm in transition -- sort of groping my way along -- moving from dolls to what?  Of course my hands can't stay still -- my mind, while grappling with one thing is veering toward another.

When in doubt pick a song, one that speaks to you, that thrills you each time you hear it. Take that song and bring it to life in stitch.

Sing along with me won't you?

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment
To be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly,
Into the dark black night

Into to the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

                                                                                Paul McCartney

  1. Great Minds!! I saw your title in my blog roll and that song immediately came drifting through my thoughts. Black birds...one of my favorites if they are crows and not Grackle or Starlings!! The name of the shop I will never open is Three Crows. Sounds like Booze doesn't it!!

Your imagination is fathomless!! You always make me smile.
    xx, Carol

    Happy Easter.

  2. Oooh, I like. Of course, with blackbirds you can't fail! Why do the catch the human imagination so! And I love what you mention about grappling with one thing while your mind reaches for another, Penny. I feel that way so often. I want to settle with one thing, but feel that if I don't grasp the ideas that flit through my head, I'll lose them!

  3. Ditto other comments! I love your project (wall hanging?), and I love Sir Paul McCartney. One of the two greatest songwriters ever -- he and Bob Dylan.

  4. Oh yes-I agree with Barbara about McCartney and Dylan. I know how you feel about being in transition-it's not so scary once you get used to the water! From what I see-you are doing amazing art and your inspiration is showing! Bravo!!!
