"Joy - An emotion of keen or lively pleasure arising from present or expected good."
What is the best kind of joy? Is it the laugh out loud kind? Is it the quiet kind that sort of sneaks up on you when you least expect it? Or is it all good -- any kind of joy.
Where do you find joy? Are you most often with someone else when it arrives, totally unannounced? Or are you by yourself, doing something solitary when you feel a nudge and realize that joy is whispering to you?
Being open to it in the first place is the key. Letting joy filter in totally unannounced and unexpectedly. Do you know there are people who are not able to let joy in for one reason or another? What a shame. Perhaps a certain little Whisperer can give them a nudge.
"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
Being a bit of a pessimist and a huge worrier joy doesn't strike often but when it does it is as simple as a beautiful flower, a shaft of sunlight, feeling good about a piece of work, a smile from somebody you pass in the street, its all the little things that strike you during the day.
ReplyDeleteUsually Joy is simple and sudden, and often for no reason at all, in my experience!
ReplyDeleteSo much goes into shaping emotions, and it's hard to understand where everyone is coming from. Being cheerful is a gift that opens the door to joy.
ReplyDeleteComment stopped taking my typing, so I'll finish. Just want to say how much I love this "certain Whisperer". I hope those who need to hear her are receptive. I love your fabric, colors, stitching, and fabulous button!
ReplyDeleteMiss Joy is certainly a beautiful Lady. There is joy in everyone of her stitches...I can see it and feel it as I look closely at her embellishments.
ReplyDeleteJoy comes on silent feet, creeping into your soul and spreading throughout your body until it finds your face and graces it with a smile. It's a mystery how joy finds you and quite offend it can be found in the most unlikely places. Keep your mind open and joy will find you. The more you allow joy in, the more visits you will receive.
Have a joyous day.
xx, Carol
I so agree with each of these comments. Sometimes it creeps in unawares and when you lease expect it -- its to be savored and nurtured for it is one of the very best gifts we can give ourselves.
ReplyDeleteJoy is mysterious and finds me when I'm not looking for her. She seems to come to me most often when I've been working on something creative, when I feel like I've accomplished even something very small. Joy favors creative action. The whisperer "Joy" is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDear Penny....It's almost as though Joy comes when we feel content with creating...The quiet....the vision of how Joy feels, comes through satisfaction...."Joy" of the "Whisperers" is beautiful, ....thank you for sharing...
ReplyDeleteI feel so blessed to live a joyful life. I wasn't brought up that way, and for many many years, I didn't know how to experience joy - or even recognize it. but I have been richly blessed in more ways than I can even relate here, and have thankfully learned to cultivate a spirit of joy and gratitude in my life. Joy is a lovely little whisperer. Again, a very noble task! Godspeed little Joy :)
ReplyDeleteAs always, very beautiful, very timely and very profound.
ReplyDeleteSitting still with the sun on my face, Joy .
ReplyDeleteOh, my! Another inspiring example of creativity, Penny! Could you show more detail of her legs? Love Joy--she makes me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteJenclair -- I'll take a picture of the legs for Monday's posting. They are fun to make!!
