"Nest"

Welcome to a spring nest!  How enjoyable it can be to put together a little house.

Not without some problems along the way, this nest was built with more effort than I thought it would take.  After finishing, I wrote a page for myself outlining problems and how to solve them, solutions so that the design might be better next time.  That tells me that I'm still in a bit of unknown territory.

I'll be thinking more about what this 'house' plan means to me because I think there are deeper feelings going on and the practicality of my medium just has to catch up.

  4. Same here, Penny, love it! Adding additional elements to break up the straight lines was genius. If you have that unsettled, unresolved feeling, surely something is still festering but it doesn't show in this piece. All I see and feel is coziness of a house (I'd like to crawl into it for peace) the beauty of nature in your colors and branch, and of course, birds and bird song (the addition of music is perfect!). I love your very unique charms too. All of that said, I can't imagine what is still bothering you, like Carol. But I know you will figure it out. A fabulous piece!

  5. Guess I'd better clarify my words! When I said I was unsure it was because I felt this house 'speak' to me and I know that I can use future houses to reflect my thoughts rather than just as a 'craft'. No problems, just a lot of thinking and designing going on. Thanks for your comments.

  6. OOOOH, this is FABULOUS! Can't remember ... did you ever mention how tall this is? You did a super job on this, Penny, and I think it's great you wrote some notes to yourself - they'll be worth their weight in punchneedles for next time ;>D

  7. That's lovely - the punchneedle texture works so well and the whole thing is homely and welcoming. Looking forward to seeing how it's taking your creativity forward.

  11. Penny, I love your little house/nest. I love its rustic, earthy feel, the colors you chose are perfect, as are all the little embellishments. It's sort of how I would like my house to be - earthy, a little rustic feeling, but cozy and inviting at the same time. That's my kind of nest!
