Oh to climb to the top of a mountain -- so high that I can look down upon other mountains.
To look up and see nothing but blue sky above me - no canopy of trees, no airplane flying over, not even a passing cloud.
To be 'king of the hill' for just a moment -- to savor the fact that this short little lady is now actually looking 'down' on everything.
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings." - John Muir
When I was a kid, I was in the Smokey Mountains. They really didn't have an impact on me. Too young I guess.
ReplyDeleteBut a few years ago we took my grandsons to Mammoth Cave. I can tell you that looking down from even those not so tall mountains had a profound effect on all of us. I think when you are older, you learn to appreciate that which you didn't understand when you were younger. I made sure my grandsons understood they were looking on majesty.
Mountains always lift the heart..
