"Much the Worse for Wear"?

Happily I say goodbye to this year.  Not that it was bad mind you, but my body and mind have changed (dare we mention the three letter word age???).  I'm trying to keep up with the changes but some days are harder than others.

I want the old energetic, 'go getting' girl I once was but am trying to  accept my limitations and seek grace, beauty and love .  Sometimes it comes easily and other times its a struggle.

Do you keep a journal?  Do you make 'resolutions' for yourself, to 'evaluate' your life as we turn the last page of 2018?

I have kept journals for years. I find it helps to just write down all the good stuff and get the bad stuff out of my system by writing it down too.

To all of my friends I wish you a wonderful new year ahead - one where you make only good memories.
Happy New Year!!!

Blank Pages

Blank pages awaiting my words and thoughts.  This is what a new year brings.

Previous years' journals set aside -- those days and thoughts are in the past now.

Guiding me through the upcoming year will be these thoughts:

I vow to remember that today is a new day
Full of new beginnings and fresh moments.

Today, I will not cling to events of yesterday nor yesteryear
But stay connected with what today brings.

I will not madly pursue my desires at the expense of others
Nor flee from challenging tasks.

I will remain true to the unfolding process of today
Without losing myself in thoughts of what was or what might be.

I will treat today with awareness and sensitivity.
Even in the most ordinary of tasks.

I will apply myself wholeheartedly to the fullness of today
For I know that today holds the resource for authenticity.

On Years and Time and Stuff

With a birthday between Christmas and New Year and then the turning of the new year - my mind drifts these days.  Drifting to the past -- all those many years behind me -- all the love I've had in my life, the joy and the pain, the laughter and the tears and just think, here I am - beginning a new year all over again.

Each year I write in a journal.  Earlier on I did it on the computer, just for ease and probably readability too - since my handwriting is awful.  For the past few years I have written each year's journal.  These aren't the 'art journals' that some of you create and that are so beautiful.  These are just no nonsense writings, usually of ideas for future projects or what I worked on that day.  Interjections of something good happening or something bad happening.

At the end of each year I go back and read the current year's entries.  But then sometimes during this quiet lull at the beginning of the a new year I'll go back and read past years too.  Sort of fun to see where my art journey has taken me over the years.

But now, today, this moment, its time to look ahead.   I hope for all of us its a magical, mystical, marvelous year.
