The Dragonfly Attack
What fun to be surrounded by dragonflies as they zip this way and that way capturing unsuspecting prey.
It is magical to watch all the flitting here and there. Did you know they can fly backward? They intercept their prey in midair? Watching them I felt as if I were in the middle of a miniature World War I air fight.
Their aerial ambushes were a wonder to see but you have to look quickly. What a wonderful world we live in...

Oh yes! I agree-there is so much wonder in this world...
ReplyDeleteI remember being in an orchestral rehearsal that was attacked by dragonflies. It turned out the clarinetist was afraid of them, and the rehearsal came to a shrieking halt until they'd all been chased out of the room!
ReplyDeleteI love dragonflies! They do seem truly magical in their antics are entertaining. Wonderful photos, Penny!
ReplyDeleteIt's so important to value those moments - see them for the treasures they are. Do you live near a pond? I don't see dragonflies very often.
ReplyDeleteYou have a unique sense of inspiration of subjects for writing about on this blog. You always cause me to take a moment to really look at what I see. Not just looking, but really seeing. I have spent hours sitting by the pond and always notice our Dragonflies, but I admit that I never really paid attention to what they were doing. It's always nice to have a gentle reminder to open my mind to what my eyes see.
