"Ribbon Tailed Flutterby"

Another little bird has come my way.  This one is perched - and for a very good reason.  She explained to me that her branch of the Flutterby's was never meant to fly.  Hmmm a non-flying bird.  But then I noticed how small her wings are so perhaps therein lies the answer.

Happily her 'musical wings' must mean that she can sing.  However, I have never heard
her do that either.  Does she sing in the middle of the night when no one is around?  Does she long to fly as other Flutterby's are prone to do?  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"The reason birds can fly and we can't is simply because they have perfect faith, for to have faith is to have wings." - J.M. Barrie

  1. Such a sweet little bird but it would be nice to hear her sing.

  2. Perhaps she is still working on her song, and you will be blown away when finally you hear it!

  3. Oh that poor little bird!! However does she dodge the cats?? She doesn't have any running legs. Perhaps she is a Fibber Flutterby! Perhaps she has a voice that is beyond a pitch humans can hear...much like dog whistles I have heard off. Perhaps she is summoning MORE Flutterby singing the praises of the excellent haven she has found. I think you are in for a Flutterby Flock!!

  4. One must admire the sartorial splendor of her ribbon tail, regardless of whether or not she can fly!

  5. I think her song is incredibly sift and sweet, sung only when she's sure there is no one around who might take advantage of her shortcomings in the wing department!

  6. Perhaps she is just a little shy and will share her song when you get to know her a bit better. some birds save their sweetest songs for only the closest of friends :)
