Every time I've gone out recently I've seen another plot of land with the dirt turned and ready for planting. What a sign of hope this is to me. Each year people dig, and turn and prepare the earth for seeds and seedlings. Each year there is the hope that the sun and the rain will bring forth yet another year of crops. Can anything else be more hopeful?
"Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul - and sings the tunes without the words - and never stops at all". - Emily Dickinson
You know I love your needle-punched landscapes, and to get a jump on the hope of spring is additionally heartwarming. It's dreary with bare branches here today, wet ones too, so this feels especially nice. I'm sure it wasn't easy to achieve depth with punch-needle, but you did it! A question about the frame -- wondering if it has space between the piece and the glass. I try to find those for some of my beaded pieces, but it's not easy.
ReplyDeleteBarbara - thanks for your comments. I don't use the glass for my punchneedle so in person there is more depth than shows in the picture. I just take out the glass, fuse fabric to backing, stitch the PN to the fabric and put it all back together. Because I don't use the glass the fused backing fits perfectly inside the frame.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Barbara, you have achieve depth and a sense of distance. Lovely, lovely piece.
ReplyDeleteYour use of shading and achievement of depth are amazing. This is a lovely piece in a beautiful frame.
