Hidden Treasures

The paths I follow these chilly winter mornings are filled with fallen leaves and compost and I must walk slowly to see the hidden treasures that await me.

Leaves that are hidden beneath the oh-so-brown 'leftover' leaves.

What else might I miss if I walk too fast, if I keep my eyes ahead and don't pause long enough to look around and up and down?

  1. When we are driving, no one notices more than Terry. He is constantly pointing something out that I can't move my head fast enough to see. He always says he doesn't know HOW I missed it. I smile and think, but did YOU see what I saw.

  3. I miss SO much walking and driving. Rachel is right, there is so much to see, yet Carol is also right. We miss a lot. I thought recently (only a block from our house while driving) that if I isolated a number of the houses I was passing, I might never recognize them. So I did a little experiment. I pulled over and looked at one house, just one, and realized that if I saw a photo of that house without any of its surroundings, I would not know where it's located. Yet I've been passing that house in my errand-running for almost 37 years! Unbelievable!

  5. I see someone else has a fascination with lichen. I was looking at the way it embellished trees in the woods the other day, and I have pieces pulled from broken limbs that I used when helping the grands make fairy houses.
