Whispers In The Attic

Perhaps I should call this the ‘year of the secrets’ – first I find out about the Piffles and now something new has been brought to my attention.  Once again I must ask for your total discretion – shhhh…

One of my dear friends came sneaking over to my house late into the other night. She was quite discombobulated – with her hair almost standing on end and her eyes wide. Once I was sworn to secrecy – even to giving her a double oath – she told me her secret.

She has ‘spirits’ in her attic!!!!  She swears this is so – that she was doing some early spring cleaning and went up to the attic to clean out a trunk. ‘Spirits’ flew out of the trunk as she started to open the lid.  Here’s where I had to stop to give her a cup of tea and settle her down.  I was afraid she herself was going to fly she was so agitated.

She quickly closed the lid and popped right back out of that attic hole, closing the door securely. Once down the ladder she swallowed a pill and  took to her bed (although it was only 2 in the afternoon).

Upon waking she thought it was a dream – but is afraid go to up there to check it out and that’s where I come in…

  1. Once you let the Spirits out, oh no no no, they will NOT be hidden away again without a fight. We have spirits, but mostly my only my boys could see them when they were young. We live with The Outside Man, Blue Guy, and Omar. We never see them anymore, but they let us know they are here, pranking us every now and then. Just the other day one of them took the deodorant from my dresser. Who knows where I'll find it, but it will turn up someday!! Can't wait to get a glimpse of your friend's spirits.

  3. No disbelief here! We have a little girl in blue who lives in the woods behind our house. I am reding "The Snow Child" by Eowyn Ivey, in full belief of the possibilities.

  4. A spirit in the attic, how enchanting! Most spirits I've met live in the woods.

  5. why, I have a trunk that looks almost identical to that one [but with a flat top] .... it has been in storage for a number of years. I wonder, I wonder what may happen when next I open the lid???

Looking forward to the continuation of this tale .... ;>]
