Running Out Of Rooms

Sad news in Lickety-Split.  Poor Mother Murphy is not doing well.  Unfortunately her lumbago, rheumatism and bursitis are all rebelling as she climbs up and down the many stairs at the boarding house.  Add to that -- the county recently sent her a letter telling her that her neighborhood is not actually zoned for boarding houses.  Well, long story short -- she is packing up to move to a downstairs apartment in Arizona.  Woe is me!!

That leaves our intrepid little boarders without a home.  I'm hoping I can recruit new homes for them - what do you think - is there room at your home, or in your studio for a a new tenant?

Leave a comment here and I'll pick a name for each boarder.  I'm sure each winner will provide a warm place for these waifs.  The winners will be announced on Saturday the 14th.

  1. Oh dear, how awful. I would love to find room for one of them here if they think they could cope with Australia.

  2. Well that is sad news indeed. I'm sure I can find a little space over here in the UK for someone in need!

  3. Oh no! We can't allow Lickety-Split's boarders to be split! But it appears that's the next chapter in this sad saga. I know Arizona will serve Mother Murphy well. Might she be Penny's alter ego? ;) I find myself following the comings and goings of these "folks" as if in real life, or at least as a mini-series on TV. Of course, my humble abode always has room for one more. Isn't that what they say about adopting a needy animal? There's always room for one more, but to the credit of the residents of Lickety-Split, they don't need to be fed or walked. Lol. Penny, you really are overly generous, but I know it brings you joy to share.

  8. Home is a special place... a refuge and a safe house where those who live there are important, and understood and loved. Room to grow, and learn and have fun! Ready to take the leap they are...Lickety to who knows where... the great adventure lies ahead! They'll stay in touch...watch and see!

  9. I hope Mother Murphy enjoys her retirement in Arizona and lets the warmth heal those aches and pains. She can rest assured that the love and support she gave her boarders has given them the courage to take this next exciting step into the unknown!

  11. You you silly people!! Mother Mary is simply going on a new adventure with a lot of more friends to find. Who knows what she'll find in the warm climate..maybe a bug or two. I'm sure she'll enjoy that desert and search for new friends under the rocks! In the meantime, I think one of her boarders would love to stay with 5 Cents!!

Good luck on the trip MM. You are off to new adventures for sure.

  12. Here at Myrtle Inn, we should be wonderfully excited to welcome on of the boarders...The Inn was founded upon finding homes for the homeless souls that lived in attics in dusty baskets and boxes....We provide warmth in Winter ...cool breezes in the Spring and Summer ...and love all year around...

  13. I'm sure MM will love it in Arizona! (I used to live there). She'll have the warmth to soothe her aches and pains, and when she misses the mountains there are some lovely ones nearby she can visit. She'll love her new adventure!
