Happy 5th Anniversary

"Journey" - July 20, 2010

I began my blog on September 1, 2009.  It was created because I wanted to participate in the 2010 Beaded Journal Project (BJP).  I needed a place to show my monthly entries and a place to talk about beading since it was such a new venue for me.

"Circular" August 20, 2010

After the year with BJP, being the 'wader' that I am, I moved on to another tide pool.  BUT my blog continued because by that time I had made many wonderful blog friends.  And today, I just can't even begin to tell you what our visits mean to me.  I've made some very dear friends (even though we are separated by many miles and in some cases entire oceans).  Thank you, all of you!

"Intertwine" - February 19, 2010

My idea for the BJP was to make encrusted beaded book marks.  Of course once I'd completed the first one I realized that it wouldn't begin to work as a bookmark, it was far too thick.  But I still liked the design so stuck with that.  I only have five of these 'memories' left - the rest having gone into the hands of people who liked them (and shhh I think at least one was pirated for supplies *smile*). I'd like to share these remnants of those days with you.

"Interlude" January 29, 2010

To celebrate this auspicious anniversary I'd like to give away these five bookmarks.  If you would like to enter this give away please  leave a comment below.  I'll reveal the winners on September 1st.  Best of luck to each of you and thank you again for sharing my journey.

  2. I can see that they wouldn't be good for the books you put them in, being much too thick - they'd break the spines of most paperbacks - but they are beautiful.

  3. Oh, these are so gorgeous! How intricate and lovely these are--I'd never hide them in a book. Can't imagine the hours that went into each one.... Fingers crossed!

  5. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! Well goodness, I was going to leave a comment here before I even got to the giveaway part because the BJP was how I "met" you, Penny! and hasn't it been just the best fun to keep blog visiting with each other over the years? I too, am so grateful for the many internet friends I've made through sharing common interests - my life is richer, by far.

I have the fondest memories of these bookmark beauties [how can you part with them???] and happily toss my name into your hat for a chance at "Intertwine" ... purple, aaahhhhh, well you know me ;>]]

Thank you for the opportunity - VERY generous of you.

  6. Well Penny, this takes me back because I think we first "met"via BJP. I was always in awe of your encrusted beadwork. I never had the patience to achieve it. I already am very privileged to own some of your work, so please don't put my name in the pot. I want someone els to know the same joy.

  7. Well, you made me go back to see when I started MY blog, because I also started it to share my Bead Journal Projects. And, gratefully, that is also how you and I met. Sometimes I think I should take my pages apart to recycle the beads, but I just can't bring myself to do that. I am looking at Kisses and Hugs 5cents right now so I decline an entry in the give away. As an owner of your art, I also want you to share it with another who will cherish it as much as I do mine.

BTW, do you ever wonder why there is no cent symbol on the keyboard?
    xx, Carol
