The Best of Three Worlds

These days I'm incorporating my love of punchneedle embroidery, doll making and words into one small package (or hopefully 'packages')

I'm also learning along the way - with several missteps.  But then for me, that's always part of the play. After a brief frustration with myself, I move on, knowing a little bit more each time.

Training myself in the use of materials, especially if not traditionally used this way, is always 'interesting'.  That's the fun part.  The not-so-fun part is taking stitches out (and ruining a whole face in the process) and/or putting one piece aside and starting another to replace it because the first one did not work.  I shall persevere!

Don't lose your confidence if you slip
Be grateful for a pleasant trip
And pick yourself up, dust yourself off
Start all over again.

  1. You summarise so well the stitching and learning process for me too. Mistakes are always part of it all - and I suggest that's true for everyone - with the brief frustration that I could have been that stupid or unthinking being temporised by the knowledge that I've learnt a little more. I love it all - the mistakes as well as the successes. What fun it is!

  2. Unpicking is all part of the learning and experimenting process, if a somewhat frustrating part, but we do learn from our mistakes.

  3. Thanks to both of you. I know its all part of the 'game' but sometimes I get a bit hard on myself because something doesn't quite come out of my hands as it appears in my mind. - Penny

  4. Yes, it's the exploration of far corners of technique which is the most rewarding, isn't it!

  5. Have been in NC, Ocean Isle Beach, with my elderly parents (94, 96). They are fighting many health issues, and Dad is not doing well as of this morning. I will return, you keep punching! I love the face, as always. :)
