Hmmm -- you say you've never heard of, let alone seen, a Yellow Winged Blue Bird??? Oh my...
I'm so glad that I can introduce this new species of bird. Related to the "Love Grows" design by Doreen Frost this little bird has come to life here in my studio.
So much fun to work -- and to play with.
It seems to me that this is the perfect time of the year to discover ornithology in the form of punch needle.
What's going on in your studio during these hot summer days?

This is lovely! I think I've seen that bird around here:)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get motivated to paint again...too many distractions right now though. I'll probably organize things. That's what I always do when I can't create!
I did the reorganization thing recently and it got me to a point where I wanted to focus only on punch needle - so glad I narrowed down my options and can devote hours to meditative stitching.
DeleteWe have had bluebirds and fledglings in 3 birdhouses that my husband built this summer. I think I see yellow on some of them, especially when the adults are in flight. Yours is lovely, and the posture reminds me of the adults keeping watch over the area where their nests are located in the birdhouses. I’ve always thought of them as peaceful birds, but if another larger bird or a squirrel enters too close to their nests, they swoop down on the attack and chase a predator away.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara. This summer has been so hot and humid that we don't see as many birds as we have in the past. When that happens we have to create our own *smile*l
DeleteIt's charming! I did meet some dodos last week.... (musical ones)
ReplyDeleteI truly suspect that there will never be a shortage of 'dodos' in this world. *smile*
DeleteI love the colours - very cooling in this horrible heat!
ReplyDeleteNope, never seen a yellow winged blue bird, but I bet there is one somewhere in the bird world. I'm stitching a bit but I am thoroughly enjoying my visit from the crows. I think the third wheel guardian of my pair has gone out on his own and had his own family. Now I still have 3 crows, and a new guardian's family of 4. Lucky me, they all know me!! I'm in bird heaven. My blues are all off in the fields, but they will be back for worms in the fall.

We have a lot of crows here too. I love to watch them. Sometimes they are very obnoxious in that they often tend toward lecturing!
Delete:) Easy to fall in love with this new species!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, a lot of fun!!!
