"Timepiece"

You never know where a bit of thought and meditation might take you.  This time it took me on a walk through 'time'.

Using the door symbol I thought about walking through it, either inside or out, just as we walk through time all of our lives.

Numbers can rule our lives -- and if not rule them they certainly play an important place in our everyday activities.  I've come to think of time and numbers as a tool we've used to enhance civilization.  When there are large numbers of us we must have some way to control it all -- thus we keep time and we count the days.

As for me -- my studio work often takes me away from time.  For a bit of each day I am lost in ideas, thread, fabric and color and I treasure each moment (while not counting it).

'Building' A Beginning

To begin a 'house' I must begin with the colors, tints, shades and floss choices.  Spreading this, that and the other across my work table is so much fun.  Trying to blend light to medium to dark, to make a cohesive look -- that takes a lot of time.

And then the work begins - with these hands putting one stitch in at a time, moving slowly forward.

A Bit of Ho Hum

I've been working on a stand-alone cottage.  While I seem to have gotten the engineering part figured out I'm less than pleased with the ambience of the finished piece.  Not enough going on here -- the colors are too dull for me and there isn't enough surface interest. Boring!!!

That being said - at least I mastered the 'standing' technique and perhaps one day will come back to the idea of being a 'house builder'.

Meanwhile its on to a new adventure - which you'll hear about next week...
