Winter Trees

Walking up my hill these days is pure pleasure.  Its savoring the season time. Its talking to the trees time.  Its bliss!

This is my time -- when I can see the sky above me and in front of me and around me - without the cover of leaves.  A time when I feel as if the world is mine, all mine into the distance and far away.

I can look at this home far, far up inside the tree.  Was it home to a squirrel family or perhaps even a raccoon?  Or even better, a magical mystical bird in full plumage of bright colors (which he hides by hunching down in his nest). Oh yes, that has got to be 'it'.

Although I was not able to capture it, I recently witnessed the trees dancing.  A breeze had come up and the branches swayed back and forth, sometimes touching each other. It was an awesome sight.  I think perhaps they were saying 'who needs leaves to be beautiful'?

  1. And isn't it a lovely blue, throwing the branches into relief!

  2. this is so funny!! Great minds you know...I have a post scheduled for Saturday, I think, about the naked trees in my back yard!! I love to watch the activity in trees when the leaves have fallen. Terry asks me all the time what I am looking at through the patio door and my answer is always the birds, or, the trees.
    Merry Christmas!!

  3. :) Along with Carol, I've been noticing the effect of bare trees etched against the sky. Early this morning, the sky was like a water color of blue and pink, and the stark trees silhouetted against the pastel background was lovely.

  4. Here it is large white cockatoos trying to wreck the fruit trees in the orchard. Very destructive birds, we will have no fruit this summer.

  5. Yes! Yes! Oh, I do love the winter trees....but then, in every season I find myself saying, "Oh this is when they are the most beautiful" My boys and I went out for a walk yesterday and I drove them nuts swooning over all the different forms and colors and patterns of tree bark. Simply amazing!! yes. i love trees.
