Fall is coming

The other day, I walked out the backdoor to be greeted by a beautifully rich sign of Fall.  The Oakleaf Hydrangea, which has been full of white flowers all summer, has changed her coat to brown.  Much like fabric looks after being coffee stained -- this lovely brown color has appeared.

Such a rich color -- it only adds beauty to the already gorgeous green leaves.  I'm so thankful for this welcome sight.

  1. Very pretty. I don't think I have seen one. Some of our maple trees are turning colors already. Probably due to our over abundance of overcast days. Poor trees are getting very little sun around here!!

    Have a great weekend.

  2. I love the brown they turn also-it's so pretty too, when they have a hint of pink with the brown....

  3. So glad yours do well. I have yet to figure out what they need. Some years ours has nothing but foliage, other years it had mostly flowers, but this year was different -- no flowers or foliage. I think it's taken its last gasp. As Dolores said, Mother Nature at work!

  4. So ready for the changing season, but then, I always am. The transition in the garden, in the light and shadows, in the weather--all are welcome!

  6. Yes, leaves are just beginning to turn. I would have liked Autumn preceded by more of a summer, but it is always lovely to see the colours change.
