Taking a moment...

...to study the roses.  They've been quite prolific this summer.  Our largest bushes have already come and gone - it seems so quickly that I didn't even get a picture.

Here are a couple of newbies -- which I spotted the other day.

Upon looking closely I see that other creatures were also studying them.
I'm hoping that this spider is looking for a meal of aphids, thus ridding the
roses of those pesky critters.

  1. Even if some roses are short-lived, there are so many different ones that you can meet a new one every week!

  2. I put in a few new bushes last year and was lucky that they weathered our terrible winter. A little stunted, but they stood their ground. Yours are lovely and I'm totally sure that spider is looking for little white bugs!

    Have a great weekend.

  3. beautiful. this year my roses decided to go for a no show, too cold too long and when it finally warmed up the rose area of my yard was too shady. Yours are beautiful.

  4. I always count on you to remind me of the beauty around us so often overlooked. Especially with roses...I am all thumbs, and not one of them is green.

  5. You are so lucky to have roses! All I can manage are the wild ones that tend to themselves, but I dream of a garden full of David Austen roses!

  6. I adore roses, but they have to be scented. :o)
