A Walk in the Garden

No day is complete without a walk through the garden. At least during this part of the year.

Each day brings something new and special and definitely colorful.

Some, like the Flame Azaleas, look like a bit of sunshine.

Others, like these purple and white Irises are bits of velvet standing tall against the rocks.

Singing in the Rain

In between rain showers I rushed outside to capture some of the intrepid flowers that are blooming.  These little Balloon plants are such a lovely, deep purple color and so abundant.

My Lavender is trying very hard to bloom -- but I suspect its wondering how it ended up here, instead of a dryer, Mediterranean climate.

The Echincea and Black Eyed Susans are working nicely together with their bright colors.

Oh and don't I love the Butterfly Weed (now how could anyone call this a weed) with its bright orange blooms.

Lastly, but certainly not least, come my Hydrangeas which are still standing tall, blooming beautifully and saying to the rain 'bring it on'!

Just singing in the rain
What a beautiful feeling
I'm happy again..."

Mlle Fleur

We've caught Mlle Fleur in her garden.  She has picked some flowers, still with the early morning dew on them.

Surrounded by color and life June is the perfect time in the garden. The dragon fly was flitting near the pond. A spotted bird's egg waits..

A Walk Around the Yard

June bloom!!  Color abounds!!!  I start out the back door encountering shades of pink, the Goatsbeard is especially lovely.

The Oak Leaf Hydrangea is in full bloom.

 There are banks of Rhododendren.

St. John's Wart is one of my favorite yellow flowers, I love the way it spills over the rocks.

The Balloon Flower is quite showy this year.

The Lavender is just now starting to bloom - soon to fill a niche with its lovely lavender blooms and scent.

Who wouldn't smile at the bright orange of the Butterfly Weed?

And of course the Daylilies which grow in such rich profusion, closing up overnight and opening to greet the sun each day.

Thanks over and over again to my husband Tom who has planted and tended all these lovelies.

"In The Garden"

Are you ready for spring?  I am!!!

Here's my latest doll, already working in her garden.  What will she see as the season comes on?

She'll start with seeds and find a few small stones as she turns the earth over.  She'll see a bright green stem reaching for the sun and later on tiny buds.  Finally, at her feet she'll see flowers.

She'll literally be surrounded, front and back with all things growing.
