This is a quiet time in the woods for our bird population. All nested up or having flown to warmer climates it is rare to see many birds around.
But some flit by once in awhile. Because they are rarely seen they become even more precious to me.
A bird outlined in a deep blue winter sky, or sitting huddled on the branch of a tree. Definitely winter treasures to be sought.

"Inspiration" - where does it come from? What prompts us to look at something and think "YES"?
Some of my favorite sources of inspiration have come from "Somerset Studio" magazine. Looking at the most recent issue, which features the art of Janet Eskridge, has stirred both my heart and my imagination.
While she works in encaustics her use of words and found objects and story just 'zapped' something in me. Each piece has a beautifully written story. How can I transfer the feelings I have when looking at her work, into the work that I do? Especially when they are so different in materials and craft.
"Inspiration" is a perfect word as I go into this new year. Looking a bit beyond what I'm doing now -- to add to or subtract or substitute. What wonders lie ahead? What is your inspiration during these cold winter days and nights?

What do you think when you hear the word "magic"? For me the word conjures up good things. I like to think that all the good things in my life are 'magic' and should be treated as such -- not taking anything for granted.
Since we all know I'm a 'word junkie' -- I've decided to make "Magic" my word of this new year. Each day I will reflect on all the magic in my life -- being thankful -- being in the moment -- living a 'magical' life.
The first 'magical' event was a video sent to me by my granddaughter showing my great grandson opening his first year birthday gifts. Oh how adorable he is and what a gift he is to our family.
The second was the snow that came down and covered everything in beautiful white blankets.
The third was a new-to-me tea, flavored with Chamomile and Lavender.
Just think, more to come! Yes, magic does exist!!!

We are officially into Winter now - but I'm behind the times, letting Autumn stay a little longer in my studio.
I crave the warm colors of Fall as Winter brings with it bare branchs, grey days, dampness and cold.
At least now I have a remnant of that most favorite season of mine.
"Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.
Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance." -
